Rising Bow (Fiddle, Tenorbanjo) – aka Gilbert Bahn-Köpke
is also known to some as Barney, but to all listeners to the Celtic Cowboys he stands out as the distinguished man with the fiddle because when doing the shuffle and the double stops he pulls the bow faster than his own shadow. When Rising Bow accompanies dances in the „Irish style“ and the slower pieces with a beautiful tapestry of sound, no foot can be still and no eye will be dry. In more than 48 years of stage experience, Rising Bow has proven to always touch the audiences´ hearts since the early 70´s with the Callan Boys, Pinch of Stuff, Buttons & Strings, and Antuaid, on fiddle as well as tenor banjo, guitar, mandolin, mandola, and bouzouki. Side trips to musical spheres such as with Treckbüdel (Low-German) and the Scheersberg Allstars (world music) made him realise that a cowboy just belongs in the prairie. Unfamiliar ambiance such as TV shows, radio live acts, tours in Germany or Ireland, festivals, castings and competitions still entice him – provided the Celtic Cowboys are there, too.
